Description
This 57.5” x 27” copperfoiled window was produced for the Paris Exposition Universelle of 1900, and was handled by the gallery L’Art Nouveau Bing. It was displayed in an ornate bronze frame by Adrien Delovincourt, where it was presented as a fire screen and illustrated in L’art décoratif, 1901. Maison de L’Art Nouveau founded in 1895 by Siegfried Bing closed in 1904. Its contents were liquidated through various auctions at which time “Ducks and Iris” disappeared, possibly into a private French collection, where it remained for many years until it was rediscovered in the 1980’s.
